I like!!
And I love the fact that Aminet is still so lean and fast.. There's serveral sites that are really too busy, to "up-to-date" to use from the Amiga, but Aminet is great, and it's the one I use the most. ;-) desiv |

Well, don't think that an interwebs download relies that much on you CPU or GOBs of RAM anyway. How do you like the file server here then?

Ouch.. I didn't realize I had to choose one or the other.. :-)
It's not the downloads that take too much CPU or RAM. It's the getting to them. The amount of javascript on lots of pages in order to give me KUAL features tends to send my Amiga into "A script is running" messages which cause me to wait or cancel the script. Yes, I can run without scripts enabled, but many sites are almost unusable in that state.. Note: I have NOT (and haven't before) made any specific comments about EAB and the Amiga browsing... With my fast windows laptop, I like your fileserver here quite a bit... With my A1200, I haven't tried it yet. EAB was a bit sluggish for me on the A1200 in general.. I'll check it out... desiv |

No worries, I won't force you to choose... yet
![]() ![]() Oh and I think it's not that hard to fix the download redirect or at least give an opportunity to report broken mirrors on Aminet. |

Sorry it took so long..
Darn work keeps getting in the way of fun.. ;-) Anyway, as long as I disable javascript and don't want to search, the file server works pretty good on my A1200 with ACA1230/28. Browsing the directories and downloading is pretty quick. I couldn't search, I'm guessing that's because the javascript kept timing out... (Well, I could search, I just never got any results.. ) There are LOTS of files in some directories (i.e. whdload), as a-z was in one page.. But I was surprised how fast it loaded, considering that.. DLd the Babylonian Twins demo and it was pretty quick. Haven't tried to expand it yet, but it DLed fine... For browsing, it works fine. Just no search for me with AWeb or iBrowse.. desiv |
