512MB in Amiga 1200?

Is it possible by any means? What is the maximum RAM that you guys have been able to put into these old mothers?

in short the answer is *almost*

however you would need a Blizzard Mk3 030 or Blizzard 040/60/PPC + the SCSI module - each would have 128MB of ram installed.

you then need a Tower conversion that would then allow you to have a PCI busboard - you then need a 256MB Radeon gfx card - you can then share the memory of that to the base RAM of the Amiga.

I dont know if it is possible to used two Radeon 9200 series cards and use the memory from both? - the irony would be to use a voodoo for display and a Radeon 9200 for the shared memory - that would be cool =)

Or if you had Zorro slots you could buy one of these.

Along with the 256mb on the Blizzard you would have 512mb of ram.

There is one single busboard for the A1200 that accepts Zorro III cards, and even then you must also connect an A4000 CPU card to it.

@jope

there is in fact 2 busboards - the Z3i Mk2 amd and the Z3i Mk3 --- although I have never seen a picture of the Z3i Mk2.... the primary difference is the number of ISA/PCI ports and two SIMM sockets accepting a max of 8MB of Fast RAM (2x4MB) - this is in Z2 space.

the Z3i Mk3 fore-goes this memory feature in favour of an extra ISA and PCI slots.
