Music-X 2.0 - Files convert to SMF for further usage

Hello,

my name is Patrick and I'm from Germany.
I have a lot of Music-X files and I would like to use them on other MIDI-Software like Cubase.

So I have to convert the Music-X files to an Standard MIDI File (SMF). The reason. My old A500 is dead unfortunately and I have a working PC or Mac computer.

Exists there any possibilities to run Music-X on a PC or Mac by emulating AmigaOS and run Music-X? Or exists there any software for converting Music-X files into SMF?

best regards and greetings from Germany

Patrick

Hi Patrick and welcome to EAB!

You can use WinUAE or eUAE to emulate an Amiga and use Music-X. I don't know of any converter for those files though. Hope you can get it to work

I know it is possible, because when I was at school I exported stuff done on Music-X on the Miggy and brought it into Cubase on the ST.

Unfortunately I can't remember how, I think Music-X may be able to export directly itself?

music-x as lha archive or so ... to run within WinUAE

Hello,

thank you so much for your really fast responses.
WinUAE could be in their version 2 a nice possibility to run music-x on a PC.

second problem:

where can I find music-x as an lha archive or so ... to run it within WinUAE. The Amiga 3,5" disk has an very special format and unfortunately I'm not able to make an mirror archive of my very old music-x startup disk.

Any ideas?

Thank you soooo much guys!

greetings
Patrick

Hi Patrick, and welcome to EAB!

I have uploaded the Music-X 2.0 install disk images to the Zone for you to use with WinUAE.

Hello Prowler,
Any chance you upload music-x again to the zone.

I have some 20 year old disketters with old sequences from my band, I would like to recover it. (hope are readable)

What's the best method to read just one disk? I have mac and pc to do experiments.

Hi Dragon, and welcome to EAB!

Of course! I still have it on my hard disk. I'll upload it for you shortly.

Download ADFRead 1.1 for Windows from the Official WinUAE website, but you will need two floppy drives on your PC to use it.

Edit: Zoned!

Wow! I didn't realise Cubase was available on the ST back in the day. I'm just trying to get my head around Cubase now, but have to admit, I find Propellarhead's Reason a lot easier.

Well bugger me!!! I very nearly kicked the crap out of a very good friend of mine, just because he believed the ST was better at producing music. I believed it was the Amiga.

It seems the software developers were with the ST... BUGGERS!

Just use the conversion program on Music-X Disk2. Set your destination drawer, then choose the files you want converted. You will have to choose whether you want Standard MIDI File 0 or 1. SMF 1 keeps channels separate across up to 16 MIDI tracks, while SMF 0 combines your channels into one track.
