Who here uses GameSmith with C or C++
I know a little about programming in C and C++ but not enough at the moment to do anything remarkable on the Amiga.
I've got my original GameSmith floppies with the manual etc and have been busy reading through it. I thought this may ease the big learning curve I'm about to undertake with the Amiga. Does anybody else here use GameSmith? If so what do you use it with? Any hints and tips you would like to share? Thanks, Dave G ![]() |

I had a copy when it came out (I had a buddy who bought it, decided he didn't want to learn C - gave it to me) - at the time I was very much into assembly, and it wasn't till years after I learnt C (when I got into Linux and MUD coding)... I've since managed to track it down, but couldn't find the manual anywhere
(and so I went back to assembly) - If you're up for scanning the manual I'd love to read it and have a crack at playing with it again (when I get my XAmiga box setup again - the joys of moving). |

No promises - it's quite a thick book - but I will see what I can do.

The GameSmith manual would be a valuable resource for all Amiga games developers!

@AlfaRomeo
If you know it's 350 pages how come you haven't scanned it ![]() Our scanner at work only scans single sided - so it would be a case of scanning all the odd pages into a PDF and then all the even pages. I don't think I would get away with standing in front of the photocopier for 2 hours while I scanned a page, turned it over and then scanned the other side etc etc But as I said "I'll see what I can do" Dave G ![]() |

Much appreciated
- The demos on provided with the disks showed some pretty nifty stuff. I always wanted to see what could be put together with it now that I have a better understanding of C. |

Hi Dave, did you get any further trying to get the manual scanned? It would really come in handy for some people wanting to join in on our games making contest!

@davideo
Did you end up finishing the scan of the gamesmith manual? I noticed in another thread you had virtually finished. |

I've just uploaded the 'Gamesmith Development System' manual to the FTP server.

@davideo
I looked on the FTP server and couldn't find it in a search. It wasn't listed in the upload queue either. What happened? -edit- Never mind. I found it on the Amiga Manuals website.

Shame you ruined it with the watermark. But hey, ho. Well done anyway.

. Edit: I couldn't remove the watermark with Acrobat Pro - did you use Word to create it? Anyway, bl**dy good work. I know how much effort is involved to to create a re-built book!
