The DADDY Amiga computer is?

Which was the best Amiga model of all EAB brothers? Which one was THE DADDY!!

For me the best thing about the Amiga was the Desktop design like so many models before it - C-64, MSX, Speccy, Amstrad CPC, Vic-20, even the inferior Atari ST etc.

I've made my feelings clear before about what I think of towering my beloved A1200. Let's just say it horrifies me.

So, with this reasoning, that's the A3000, A1000, A2000/A1500 and all the other big box designs out.

Hmmm. That leaves the A500, A500P, A600, A1200, CD32 and CDTV.

It'll have to be the original A500 for me. The best looking computer of all time and the model that placed a great technological design firmly on the map.

So, which one's the DADDY Amiga for you?

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you there, the best looking computer ever is a fully expanded (Monitor Keyboard etc etc) CDTV.

I liked the A1200. Good desktop look without the large box beside it...except for the monitor. The CDTV looked nice with it's sleek black design. But I've only seen a couple of pictures of that. I'd like a black computer but I'd still have to go with my A1200 which seem to incorporate everything I need in one carryable box. (monitor and psu and mouse and controllers not included here)

I voted A500 because it was the only Amiga I ever owned. (apart from the CD32, but that was hideous)

I voted the A600 to piss you all off... who was the other A600 voter? paul?

I'd say a fully expanded CDTv is the papa of all Amigas too, as far as looks are concerned. For expandability and productivity power, either a towered A1200 or an expanded A3000

Yep

Well it is the only Amiga I ever owned and was my first real computer. I was recently given an A500+ and hated having a box shoved on the side for the hard disk, but it died after a week but at least my A600 has a good 4.5 power pack.

Conclusion:

I voted for A600HD as I like it’s compact size.

The A3000 folks, the best box out there with all you need outta the box without any upgrades:

Plenty of on=board ram expansion
Built-in flicker fixer
Zorro 3 slots
Video Slot
CPU bus
Compact case design, of course this is also a minus in that you're limited with internal expansion

I'll say the 1200, mainly because it broke out of its limited shell and could be expanded into a real beast

Hardware Designers managed to use every port on the thing for something from enhanced IDE interfaces to improved serial ports to PPC cards & the blizzard-vision gfx card

It became as expandable as a 4000 with far less slots and holes to poke

I voted for A1200, mainly because it's powerfull, it's neat and it's small. I woud love if my PC was that small. I miss the times when computers looked like that.

Oh yeah, and I only voted for the A1200 because the Amiga 1600 wasn't in the list

Thumbs up A500

I have voted the Amiga 500 because it made the Amiga affordable for the general public.

Yes I did, thanks for pointing it out

But also note the thread didn't specify AGA vs. non-AGA machines
