Galactic Remix (Stavros Fasoulas/The One)
Hello viewers! Does anyone have the file of the full version of Galactic, which was only released as a The One coverdisk. A search here revealed that it does exist and that someone had apparently uploaded it to somewhere called "The Zone", but I can't locate it by clicking the link of that name at the top right.

Welcome to EAB, S(tuart?) Campbell.
You're right. The only full "Galactic" is a remixed version given out in a cover disk of The One. You had to know all files in The Zone are up for a maximum of 4 days, that's why you haven't found this game, it was uploaded months ago!!! Feel free to download now in The Zone. In the future, for any coverdisk, watch out a site called "Nth Dimension" (sorry, I haven't link here), you'll find a great bunch of stuff! |

EDIT: Except it doesn't appear to work - like the demo, collision detection seems to be broken, you can't pick anything up, and you just die when the time limit expires. I found a "WHDLOAD" file, which may or may not help, but haven't the foggiest what to do with it. Anyone actually able to play Galactic? Last edited by S. Campbell; 25 August 2003 at 16:20. |

Welcome aboard Stuart! Hope you stick around for a while, you might be able to answer lots of questions people have here
As far as I remember, the Galactic XMAS game doesn't work in emulators. which version of WinUAE have you got? I can play teh game perfectly on my amiga, if it helps I will look among my WHD CD and see if I have it in WHDLoad form for you, and up it to the zone. Will keep you posted! |

Aren't you the Stuart Campbell editor of Amiga Format? No, eh?
I guess there are many Stuart Campbell out there, is the the reason why that "S" rings me a bell! BTW: Galactic works perfectly with WinUAE 8.0.22 release 6, just check the collision to full! |

I don't seem to remember the man Campbell uttering "man" a lot in his golden years..... the "man"s make me think of Zane Lowe a lot, funnily enough.

And wolf, setting collision detection to "full" sorted it perfectly. Cheers! |

Way back in the day when I used to work at Grandslam we were in the process of negotiating to buy "Galactic"... Stavros wanted a pretty reasonable amount for it (as in "fair") but he could never come to an agreement with "the management". I remember part of the problem being the game would only run on A500's and he didn't want to spend any time on compatability issues. It was a bloody great game - although we never got a full version off him

*Bump*, interesting story on Galactic! Will the powers that be consider mentioning this on AGTW-yes we all know The Xmas edition was a giveaway sometime later but given this relates to the "original" version it (sort of) counts doesn't it?
Any other unreleased games infos from the Grandslam days? |

Does anyone have the adf/dms of this handy? If so, can they whack it in the zone?
