Drakkhen - dumb question

Did you know that Drakkhen came in two versions, one set to normal level and one to "pretty impossible"? I had this game since 1990 and I've never been able to beat it, not until I've found an original italian version that is way easier than my cracked copy. Is it the normal behavior for the pirated copy or just a joke of the crack team?

Btw, the old sage in the Hordthken castle warned me: "Never play with a copy of Drakkhen or death awaits you". With the pirated copy I can't finish the game, my party receives a lot more damage than in the original version. Also, I can't kill some monsters and princes until I reach 16th level for each character.

I wasted 15 years trying to beat it lol

Good question, there's no crack team info at all.

Disk 1
Disk 2

This one came with a default party on the "original" disk two:

Priestess: KISOIGNTOO
Fighter: SIR BASTON
Scout: ROLAND
Magician: MORGANA

Enter Hordtkhen castle at the end of the path to the east, then go left twice, in a room you'll find the old sage. Talk to him and he'll reply with "Never play with any DRAKKHEN copy, or Death awaits you". Then try to fight someone, a single guard can kill your whole party.

Sounds more like you've been playing with a straightforward copy rather than a cracked copy. As for the characters you mentioned, those are the normal default characters that come with the game.
