Forgot password :o(

Hi folks,

I've just dug out my old A600HD after it has spent years in my attic, but I've hit a major problem when I try and get going!

Basically, all the hardware seems to be working well, but when I boot up the hard drive, I am met with a login screen. I'm not sure whether this is a part of workbench, or whether it is an extra program that I installed on top of workbench?

Anyways, the big problem is that I can't work out my username/password combination, so I can't get going.

Can anyone help by giving me advice on how to bypass this login screen, so that I can either change or remove the request for a password?

What other options do I have if I just can't remember the password?

Thanks in advance,
Pete

okay boot with no startup sequence

type LOADWB and workbench will load

Next using a txt editor (CygnusED or ED) edit the file sys:s/startup-sequence and remove your password program

Reboot

If the login screen belongs to Multiuser then it is not that easy. In this case you have to boot from the Install disk, run HDToolbox and change the DosType (aka identifier) of all partitions from MUFS to DOS\3. Then reboot from the Workbench disk and use a text editor to remove the login command from s:user-startup (it isn't in startup-sequence). Reboot again without a floppy in the drive and the login screen should have disappeared.
