JOTD arcade conversions CD32 compilation

With the help of DanyPPC which provided the pics, I've put together a CD32 compilation of the arcade remakes I've done

I'm going to publish them on itch but no time tonight, find that in the zone.

- There are some issues/limitations right now on CD32 (some games don't start)
- It's using CD32load, as bare executables needed degrading or just wouldn't start...
- Never tried it on real CD32 hardware, should work (runs from WinUAE CD32 config)
- don't forget to buy one or two games from my itch page if you like the compilation.

I'll wait for the official itch.io release.

I don't own a CD32 but WinUAE or CD32 emulator for Amiga I think is quite good to play the compilation.

PS: I noticed the Pacman image is wrong, so I passed you the correct one via pm.
Excuse me.

Many thanks jotd.

Yes but there are limitations. Slowdowns on vanilla A1200 for a few games (Xevious and Tetris). No fastmem => slow.

a good title for this compilation could be "JOTD Arcade Games for CD32". You or someone should create a title screen instead to start soon with AGS menu.

A boot image with a collage of the arcade games, a logo "for CD32" or something similar, with a background mod, like standard AGS distribution for fpga and emulators, could improve this iso.

But it is necessary to take into account the little chip memory available, I think these can affect the correct functioning and loading of games.

Perhaps a simple boot image is just enough.

you can use as much chip as you want (almost) as CD32load will kill the OS anyway.

great!! well done! I completely forgot about this option. The CD must send interrupts or something. A delay before starting whdload should also fix the issue (present only on that particular game, which uses the exact same components than the others...)

Burnt this today. Tried moon patrol, scramble, phoenix and just get grey screen with cd drive activity. So I booted unto the Workbench image (cd32 tf330) and dragged the files over, they all copied quickly.

Moon Patrol and Phoenix then ran fine just double clicking the exe. Scramble and Ms pacman didn't, I probably need to mess with whdload? Anyway,

Moon Patrol, brilliant. Played arcade cab a lot. Only thing I noticed on your version is the front layer ie with the rocks is a bit jerky scrolling, only updating every other frame or something?

The "input lag" feels correct ie like the arcade and as it would on the moon

One bug, 2 player mode, when p1 dies the music stops and p2 only has sound effects

Sure arcade starts with 3 lives as well not 2? Could be dip switch option

Phoenix another game I've played the real one a lot also felt really good! Only issue there is the top few pixels are cut off on my pal crt tv ie whole screen shifted up so I only see the bottom pixel or two of where it says score etc

Back for another play session now

Thanks

Gakaxian and Xevious same with top cut off. First load the bomb didn't work but did on 2nd load. Nice and smooth!
