Save a miggy game from the Limbo

i like a lot the LemonAmiga adaptive rating system

this list of games came up from there, all the games rated below 5.5 ;
each title rated from at least 40 users (lowering to 30 votes the list grows of 70 more games, until reaching more than 1000 with few votes criteria)

so i consider the Limbo the cauldron where all the mediocre average rated games are placed

this is the crude list :

1000 Miglia
1943
Action Fighter
Afterburner 1988
Afterburner 1989
Akira
Alien Storm
Altered Beast
Armalyte
Army Moves
Astro Marine Corps
Baal
Baby Jo
Back to the Future II
Barbarian (Psygnosis)
Beyond the Ice Palace
Bionic Commando
Black Lamp
Black Tiger
Blade Warrior
BMX Simulator
Bomb Jack
Castlevania
Chaos Engine 2
Chase HQ
Cisco Heat
Cliffhanger
Crazy Cars
Crazy Cars II
Darkman
Days of Thunder

Double Dragon
Dragon's Lair
Dragon's Lair Singe's Castle
Dynasty Wars
ESWAT
Fears
FIFA Soccer
Final Blow
Forgotten Worlds
Fright Night
Ghostbusters II
Gremlins 2
Hard Drivin'
Home Alone
Human Killing Machine
Impossamole
Indy Last Crusade (platform)
Ivanhoe
Kid Gloves
Last Action Hero
Last Ninja 2
Last Ninja 3
LED Storm
Live and Let Die
Manhattan Dealers
Miami Chase
Microprose Soccer
Moonwalker
Narc
Oscar
Out Run
Pac-Land
Paperboy 2
Pinball Mania
Pit-Fighter
Platoon
Power Drift
Predator
Primal Rage
Real Ghostbusters
Red Heat
Renegade
Rise of the Robots
RoadBlasters
Rolling Thunder
Running Man
Savage
Shinobi
Space Ace
Street Fighter
Strider
Strider II
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Coin Op
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Terminator 2 : Judgment Day
Thunder Blade
Thundercats
Tiger Road
Toobin'
Top Banana
Total Recall
Turbo Cup
Turbo Out Run
U.N. Squadron
Vigilante
Vixen
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Wild Streets
WWF WrestleMania
Yolanda

now if you can 'save' just a title from there, which would be your choice?

Savage is my choice, i still like to play that one every now and then
i like the colours and the crazy sound effects

Chaos Engine 2 !!!! less compelling that other Bitmap Bros games, a bit stressful because it plays more like Speedball 2 than Chaos Engine, but excellent graphics, good level design, awesome music...

Apart from that, filtering by developper with "Tiertex" set should yield 99% the same

If only one, probably Chaos Engine, but I liked Hard Drivin' on ZX Spectrum and suppose Amiga version can't be any worse.

Rise of the Robots: It would have been nice to have a good looking game that matched the hype instead of the failure we got. At least the game seemed to suck on every platform and not just ours?

Hard Drivin' is not so bad with fastmem. At least the game uses it.

Note that a lot of the games of the above are (bad) arcade ports or (bad) movie ties-in. Hard Drivin' was stunning in the arcades with the sit down version, gear shift and all..

Dragon's Lair would be mine because seeing it running at the store is what wowed me into asking for an Amiga. Obviously the gameplay wasn't great but for the time the graphics were mind blowing. I'd also add Who Framed Roger Rabbit as it too was one of my first Amiga games and I enjoyed it a lot at the time.

Possibly FIFA though I haven't really played it myself, if only because the game recommends an A1200 and a two-button controller, and I dare say some people have rated it based on how it plays on an A500 with a single-button controller.

I always quite liked Kid Gloves, quite a nice old-style methodical platformer. Forgotten Worlds is reasonable if you can master the controls.

Mostly arcade conversions and film / character licenses, perhaps because most bad (or even average) games sink without trace unless there's a reason for them to be bought regardless of quality. The really bad games are the ones with 10-20 votes and an average below 3, many of these are just (roughly) average.

Indy 3 action game was the first game I got, so I played that a lot. But it's crap, I know.

I did, however, enjoy Terminator 2 (I loved the movie and was a big Arnie fan, so that helped). Also have fond memories of WWF Wrestlemania multiplayer. It was kind of fun to smash your friends across the head with a chair or table.

Very mediocre/bad games but among them I'd save Ivanhoe.
For some reason I did like it in the days and I still play it now and then trying to complete it (I always arrive at the castle but I haven't found the king yet...)

One level, the egyptian one, because the Atari ST just could not push that, and they lack space on the disks......

sadly much more than that
4 levels in the Amiga, 8 in the Arcade
4 bosses in the Amiga, 9 in the Arcade
on the Arcade each level have a music, in the Amiga only 2 musics are used

the egyptian level in reality are 2 levels, with different bosses at the end;
in the Amiga they used the Arcade 6th level (clouds) as the fourth (final) one, putting the arcade final boss (the winged man) at the end of that, instead of the ice boss.

so 7 and 8 (final) stages are missing too

Strangely enough, I would save quite a few of those game, but if I have to save just one, then it's definitely Chaos Engine II, I love the game despite it being heavily criticized.

I just love the tune from the intro and the general atmosphere, also that badass gun the hero is holding, too bad the enemies are respawning though

Honorable mentions :
Beyond the Ice Palace, Savage (maybe they should have opted for a menu to choose which part to play first), Turbo Cup, Manhattan Dealers (8-bit vibe at its finest!)
