A500 for pure nostalgia, first amiga.
A1200 however was my favourite amiga, could do so much more with it. Really helped getting a whopping 175MB HDD for it mind you. |

A1000 for its iconic value
A500 for the nostalgia A3000 for being the most sexy design A1200 for being my trustworthy companion for over 30 years A4000 most useful in 2024 (when maxed out with 100MHz 060, RTG, Soundcsrd, Ethernet, USB) CDTV for its stylish 90s. hifi design. Hall of shame: A2000 ”the ugly duckling” A600 ”the annoying little brother” CD32 ”the dissapointing bastard child” |

The CD32 with SX32 Pro is the most feature rich and compact Amiga ever released! The A1200 with PCMCIA adapters and all the dongles hanging off it just feels clunky by comparison to replicate a similar feature set and CD32 compatibility is still not easy to replicate! The CD-Drive is fully integrated in the Roms on the CD32, so no CD.device tweaking nonsense is required either! Magical! The CD1200 with an 030 built in might have made the A1200 comparable but it would have had a huge footprint in comparison! DCE made a very stable and professional upgrade late in the Amigas life when there was a glut of CD32s around and A1200s were scarce and it is scandalous they only sold about 2,000!

To me, asking for a favorite Amiga model is akin to asking for one's favorite child. All have strengths and weaknesses as has been written in prior posts.
Personally, the A500+ was my first Amiga. For many years, I experimented with all emulated models. As I don't have the resources to own and care for more, I eventually settled on a real A1200 as the one model to focus on for the foreseeable future. |

Umm - the rule is which is your 'Favorite'. That means you must choose one. Last man standing. |

Tough question. I owned a 2000 and a 4000. Both hold a special place in my heart. I wish I held onto them. Now I have to settle on being an emuligan.Oh well. Such is life.

The A1200 of course the best model and my favorite model and the most nostalgic one
It is also computert that we all wanted when we had the turtle Amiga 500 so I think that all which voted for the A500 never upgraded to an A1200 because the difference was the day and night > not so much now but especially in the past in the late 90s |

Since then I have acquired an A500 and an A600 with Vampire, but the A1200 gets way more attention. Still have the Blizzard 1230-IV from 1995 too (now with 32MB RAM) and Seagate 950MB 2.5" hard drive that I installed in the late 90's. Amigas that I don't have anymore:- A1000 with 2MB FastRAM, 20MB hard drive - stolen in 1991. A3000 with 50MHz 060, 32MB FastRAM, Picasso II RTG, Network card - sold in 2001 CD32 with internal floppy drive - sold in late 90's A1000 with A600 motherboard, 33MHz 030, internal IDE CDROM drive and hard drive - sold in late 90's A600 with 25MHz 020 - thrown away in 2016 ![]() |

There's a decent amount of AGA only games, and enhanced AGA versions, to make an A1200 better than any non-AGA Amiga. Then you can add all the stuff that needs more than 512k chip +512k fast to run, or is boosted by the faster processor, or extra memory. Add the fact that it's the only mass-market Amiga that can take both internal hard drives and accelerators, and I think there's enough there. The compatibility issues were a nuisance of course, more of them the fault of programmers than of Commodore, but a lot of those games got fixed, even before WHDLoad and the like.
