Calling some of these manga is a bit of a stretch. Joe & Mac? Final Fight?

Wolfchild had an anime style intro.
http://hol.abime.net/1745 Also games like Soccer Kid, Ruff 'n Tumble and Top Banana have main characters with big heads and big eyes, but I'm not sure if that's enough to make them anime/manga. |

Maybe Wolfchild intro will "fit", but other mentioned games (and Arabian Nights, if You mention Soccer Kid) rather looks like Euro/US cartoon style, IMHO. |

Street Fighter 2 had an anime movie in Japan:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street...Animated_Movie And it had it's own manga comics too, like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_II_(manga) So I think all games in the Street Fighter series should have the anime/manga theme tag. And here are some of my thoughts on the other proposed games. --- Elfmania is clearly inspired by the japanese art style. This is evident by not only how the characters look, but also by how the game name is also written in japanese both in the game box and in the title screen. So I think Elfmania should get the "anime/manga" theme tag. --- And Fighting Spirit too is clearly japanese art style influenced. One of the loading screens has japanese writings: And the cover art too is more japanese than european style: So, I would give it the anime/manga tag. --- And that tennis game Smash too should surely get the manga/anime tag, because of art style, and because the game box and the advertisements of the game actually say that it's a "japanese cartoon style" game. So just like Apidya and Elfmania, they're making the point clear that they're trying to be japanese. And some of the characters of Shadow Fighter look manga/anime influenced, so to it too I would give it the manga/anime tag. And in my opinion those other games mentioned: Pang, Deep Silence, Yo! Joe!, Joe and Mac, Mega Twins, Bubble Heroes and Super Gem'Z also qualify, so they too could all get the tag. And Shadowlands and Shadoworlds also could get the tag, because the big eye character portraits are clearly manga influenced. --- But about Final Fight, I don't know. The games original concept art is of course drawn by japanese artists in the anime/manga style, and according to wikipedia some of the Final Fight characters have appeared in anime films. But in my opinion in the game itself the characters look more like traditional pixel art style rather than anime/manga. And about the Turricans, I think they're in the same category as Wolfchild; the intro movies could qualify, especially the Turrican 3 one. So I guess it depends on if just an anime/manga style intro is enough to get the theme tag. It could be. Personally I would tag Wolfchild and Turrican 3, maybe turrican 2 too. These theme tags just describe game contents...so even if the whole game wouldn't be anime/manga, the tag is still useful in finding such contents from this huge database. So in my opinion, we could put the anime/manga tag to all games that have this sort of content, even if it would be just the intro. So if the game has such content, even if it was just a little bit, then I think it's better to have the tag, rather than not to have it. |
