I'm gutted, I had Something that would have been right up your Alley but the Nephews ended up with it, Amstrad GX3000 Console, Controllers and the Pack in race game I Can never think of the Name of

They loved playing it when they were here so I gave them the Amstrad and a Mega Drive gen 2 I had Spare.

The eldest of the Two should do Speed-run tryouts for Sonic 1 man I have never seen anyone so Precise with Movement and Eliminating Bosses, He must get it from Me

3 - Gigabyte GN-650SLI-DS4L Core 2 Duo E8400 3 ghz 4 x 1gb Cosair memory

4 - Pentium III 700 mhz 2 x 256 mb PC 133 GA 6VX7-1X

5 - Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.8ghz 4 x 1 gb DDR 2800

2 is Very Similar to what I have Now for my Dos/Win98 Gaming but I do have another Friend who is Interested in Building one so this may just be up his Street :-)

The Pentium III is what I am Really interested in Myself :-) Need to add one to my Collection

1. Nice socket A board but its just a bit lacking on expansion slots. A good competitor to the P4 windows 98/XP builds though. I'd value it at about £30 - £40. If you want there is £30 sitting here waiting for you as it'd make an interesting build for my youtube channel when most just revolve around P4 98/XP builds this would be something a bit different.

2. The Intel equivalent to the above, slightly faster CPU and a few more expansion slots. I'd value it similar at about £30-£40

3 and 5. For me these core 2 duo setups are more or less worthless. Too modern for a 98 build and too old for anything modern. The entire mid 00s of computer hardware still isn't old enough to make it retro. Yeah you could build a nice XP rig with it but I always prefer to use the period correct hardware and push that for best performance. Value for each of these maybe £20 - £30.

4. Now this is the diamond in the rough. A beautiful board with AGP, PCI and a single ISA slot. Its crying out for a windows 98 build with a nice ISA sound card for DOS support and a Geforce GPU. Value for this one is hard to judge. Sold as a bundle for value I'd guess in or around £50 - £80.

Take all my valuations with a pinch of salt though. PC retro hardware isn't like Amiga as while there is the following for it there is a lot more hardware to go around. Like anything retro its all about perspective so to some all this hardware is worthless where as to some its priceless. If I owned that Pentium 3 board I'd not give it up for love nor money. Likewise if I had those core 2 duo boards I'd probably just give them away or take them to the bin as for me they are worthless.

If you have any expansion cards going in particular sound or video cards let us know. Some of these are worth a lot more money. Voodoo cards are particularly valuable and if you had a Geforce 256 DDR I'd probably sell some body parts to get it. Certain ISA sound cards hold a massive amount of value too.

I Completely Agree with you :-) Prices are Spot on! C2D and C2Q are Useful for Emulation or Budget game Builds (Well not so Much C2D) so there may be Value to Certain People I must Admit I was LGA775 Crazy for a Long Time.

I've built a few budget gaming rigs for people lately and my advice in terms of motherboard / cpu is always reach to the low/mid of current tech rather than the high end of yesterdays i.e. an AM4 board with low end rysen 3 or 5. With the right board you leave your machine wide open for future expansion of CPU to significantly increase its performance whereas a high end 1155/56 chip is already stretching itself to keep up. GPU is a different story. Always better to reach to the high end of the last gen just to save money. My GTX960 can still push out most stuff on high at 1080p but I tend to look to GTX980 or a RX580 for builds and considering most budget gamers are also buying a budget monitor (1080p 60hz) then 4gb of vram is plenty.

I should have Said E-Sports Budget Gamer buddy that's what they are still not bad for, Older titles as well.


Yeah I tend to stick to Gen 3 1155 or Newer Now when doing Builds, And I Choose the 900 series too usually . The GTX960 is a Great Card :-) I Try for the 980 but if I can't get the 980, the 960 is the Next choice as the 970 Suffers Terrible coil Whine and I had a Return due to this, although it doesn't Affect life or Performance whatsoever they didn't like the sound of it which I Completely Agree.

That wouldn't be of Much use to me I'm afraid. am Trying to steer away from LGA775 as I have a Abundance of Stuff already. I am interested in Socket 478 and Earlier or LGA1155 or Later :-)
