PPC Linux - APUS - update
For few months am thinking if anybody else would be interested in porting Linux/APUS from ancient 2.4.x to current 3.x/4.x kernel.
What is Linux/APUS? Linux/APUS is the project that allows you to run Linux/PPC on PowerUP Amiga computer systems like BlizzardPPC and CyberstormPPC. Unfortunately development of this project ended more than 10 years ago. Today you can run current Debian 8.0 Jessie even on Amiga 600 equipped with ACA630 with kernel 3.16. But when you want to use PPC side of those bloody expensive Amiga PPC cards today - you are limited to ancient 2.4.22 kernel aka Debian 3.0. The best unix like OS to run on classic Amiga hw today is probably the NetBSD - still officially maintained for m68k, recently released in release 7.0. NetBSD never ran on PPC Amiga and there is no sign that it ever will. So in comparison - Linux went on classic Amiga hw further. I am not a programmer capable of make it happen but am advanced user definitely interested and willing to help if anybody would be capable of. If you are interested, willing to help or have any idea - you are welcomed here. |

For sure. If there will be something available, the users will use it.
