Floppies

My Amiga is in the attic, no idea if it still works, I also have dozens if not hundreds of floppies. I think the answer is probably no, but is there any way to transfer original amiga disks using a Mac or possibly PC?

I seem to recall when I did it some time ago I used the Amiga itself.

It would be nice if there was some way to use Mac/Windows/debian(vmware) and an external usb floppy, but I am guessing that that is a non-starter.

Worth checking though.

If you have an old pc with 2 floppy drives
Some games can be transferred.

Other than that, you're going to need some additional hardware. PC floppy drive controllers on the whole can't read or write Amiga formats. And in particular, USB floppy drives are even less flexible - some of them don't even support DD disks, so even if you could read or write the format, you'd still stuck.

Extra hardware like a Catweasel PCI or Kryoflux will let you read and write Amiga disks on a PC.

What amiga do you have? If it is an A1200 or A600 then I believe it is simpler (and probably cheaper) to buy a CF to IDE adapter, a CF card, copy disks to CF card and then to your Mac or PC using FS-UAE or WinUAE (might need a CF card to USB adapter). Obviously this depends on if your Amiga would also still work.
