Today I got one of these off eBay:

If anyone wasn’t aware, I’m a musician (sound designer/composer/music teacher/session musician) who has recently got back into Amiga after a 20 year break.

I’ve downloaded all the cool trackers, software synthesizers and sequencers for the old humble miggy.

Actually that’s made me think of a question to ask the forum...

Anyhow, I’ve even tried my hand at coding and learned how to turn on Paula’s super secret ring modulation (sounds insane) but one thing I was missing was a sampler.

There’s some insane audio-in effects programs that I’d like to try with a guitar or Synthesizer. So I bought the cheapest sampler I could find on eBay, hopefully it’ll work ok as it’s a parallel port sampler and I think they all work the same way.

So yeah, the Amiga music adventure continues...

It’ll be very useful if North Korea decides to fire off it’s missiles.

I bought a canvas, printed with an image which I processed in Personal Paint to reproduce a ZX-Spectrum-alike palette.

2MB RAM upgrade KIT for my commodore amiga 500 from Boobip.

Fast delivery, works like a charm and also very cheap price.

I got that one too, just the £28 board though as I have a REV8 A500+

I did read the instructions for the kit installation though, looks kinda fiddly, but ingenious!

I love it. It's ridiculously small but the screen looks amazing, plus you can plug it into anything with hdmi and it looks good on my tv (I also bought the neo geo mini external pad which is lush - although I see scalpers are already fleecing everyone for these online). The built-in joystick works surprisingly well on the mini and I've had no problem pulling off specials on some of the fighting games I've tried.

The only downside is no internal battery so I've stuck a small power bank on the back of it to resolve that isuue (I see online people have modded theirs so the power bank is internal).

I'm hoping, like the snes & nes mini's, this will eventually get hacked as theres a handful of missed games from the neogeo library I'd like to add.

It fits in well with my other mini consoles too...

I paid £85 for mine plus about £12 for postage (imported from Japan), so just a little bit more than a snes mini (but it's got 40 games and a built in screen).

The international edition is released next month so I guess prices will be the same?

that neogeo mini is a ripoff for what you get
its cost way more than a snes/nes and it has nowhere near the same power
look inside at the cpu it uses then you might be pissed at what you paid
not saying the nes/snes is a good price but the neogeo mini is even worse

I paid £15 more than a snes mini so not exactly much more considering this has a screen built in?

I've seen teardowns of the neo geo mini, and even if the cpu isn't as good as a Nintendo mini, it's still built to do the job of what it's ment to do perfectly fine and that's play neo geo games!? Yeah it would be great if this is hacked but I'm not bothered about playing ps1 or dreamcast games on it (just a handdul more neo geo games would be great) so the cpu is fine (for what it's designed to do)?

I've got a few raspberry pi's here and they obviously can't be surpassed (well apart from odroid xu4) for emulation, amibian is amazing! But I love the form factor of these official little machines.

just sayin its a shitty thing for you to pay more for way less and those lcd screens today cost nothing
but you do seem to have more space so you should be able to add more games

I'm not sure how CPU power or other specs should relate to the price paid. If it plays the games it's supposed to at the original framerates etc., then the CPU is powerful enough. Why be disappointed about having fewer spare CPU cycles to dump?

You're also not considering the extra cost that's involved in developing a unit with a built-in screen, and the higher NRE costs per unit because it's not likely to sell as many units as the Nintendo offerings.

I'm not sure about the titles list, but there could well have been licencing costs involved that have to be taken into account as well.

I've bought this a bit of expensive game cartridge for the Commodore 64:

Watch this nice video from Robs Plays today:

[ Show youtube player ]

I just think that they should also sell it as a digital download. In any case I like it, so I like to have it in a cartridge.

I love the graphics. They look to me like in a MSX, maybe it's just me.
And I also think that it will sound delicious while using my SidFX stereo setup

About 10 years ago I bought a ZX Spectrum+ off eBay for £7.

They are now a lot more expensive than £7!
I finally got around to plugging it in this week and found out it works!

Well kinda, the innards seemed to work 5 but not the keyboard.
So today I ordered a replacement keyboard membrane.

I will hopefully get this up and running with a DIV MMC that I’ll buy later...as I want to make 1 bit music with it!

I’d love to have a song going along, then a breakdown into a short 1-bit section and then BAM! Back into the full song, it would be dynamically very cool.
