thank you Toni for the filters

I know that some like them and others don't... but for those who like them, look what is possible to have: it's just an example: 1 original 2 filters
ps: perhaps some will change their mind?

I like CRT filters but this looks like an oil painting or something. Destroys the fine bitmap pixelart imo. Fake HD filters don't work on lores graphics.

MAME (and many, many other emulators) have a lot these filters.

I just don't get why someone would want to use them though; why distort / manipulate / transform and therefore spoil the original graphics?!?

I do get anything that tries to replicate Arcade / CRC monitors; scanlines, slight curvature etc. but that's as far as it goes.

In my opinion the best for LCD screens is something like the XRGB framemeister does:
Nearest scaling (integer) and subtle scanlines

@turrican3; your images in the first post were a little too large.

Not only when viewing from a laptop, but I image also when viewing via a mobile. I've resized them by a reduction of 30%.

the "super eagle filter" on winuae works fantastic, games and workbench looks like my 1084s
in winuae or emulators not using a screen filter is totally dumb because games will look so pixelated and will not look as the authors would have wanted
the Amiga games were done for monitors which did not have much definition
in winuae I recommend the filters super eagle or super 2xsai,(common filters not direct3d )
both look like a real monitor 1084s or philips cm8833

Nah man, that looks rubbish to be me also and very similar to the filter that turrican3 was using; it's manipulating / blurring the graphics

Original (no filters, and I've purposely left scanlines=50 off for comparison):

D3D: SuperEagle (scanlines off):

Looks awful. This xBR filters are also crap. Not only for the graphics but texts are distorted too.

You should look up some images on google then. This horrible filters don't look like anything a beautiful CRT monitor would output.

sorry guys, i know that some of you prefer square pixels but every time i show turrican 3 or other amiga game with or without filters to somone who don't know the amiga who never saw an amiga... somebody with no nostalgia. He will choose the filtered one, and i know that it seems heretic but i prefer the filters too. I suppose this is like the guys who like the amiga x5000 and those who say that this isn't an amiga... Or Morphos and Amiga os.
Like usual every taste is in nature hopefully.
I continue to say : thank you Toni for those who like this.
ps: now on a crt monitor, it isn't the same but with a tft even with scanlines, i don't like the result. I tried to find a big crt, i had one but he died and it's difficult to find one now.I mean a new one.

The filter looks nice, kind of painterly.
I like the filters to see what a job they do of hiding the pixel art.
However the top one is how it is supposed to look, how it looked on my 1438.

Sadly not, it's like it looks on a actual monitor, not on a beautifull 1438 !

the microvitec 1438 is a vga monitor it have better resolution and a smaller point compared to the commodore 1084s or the philiphs cm8833 which both display a more blurry image

The 2nd pic fits those monitors, damiend D is using the D3D version of super eagle filter which is buggy,He should have used the version I said which is the direct draw version

the Amiga games created for those monitors which are more blurry, the microvitec 1438 comes later in 1994 or so after 99% of the AMiga games were created, that's because most of the Amiga games yet looks pixelated in such monitor

Then post a picture of the WinUAE filter please. Still not convinced.

edit: Ok, these filter looks a lot better than the D3D filter. But still not an authentic CRT look i remember from the 1084 and Microvitec monitors back than. Way too heavy melted pixels/distorted edges

DirectDraw Super 2xSai

DirectDraw Super Eagle

Workbench DirectDraw WB Super2xSai

Workbench DirectDraw WB Super Eagle
