I completely agree! The old graphics of Gods had "shine" to it. They glowed they were absolutely beautiful, every pixel like a beautifaul mosaic. This, not so much

And they don't even include new levels. I'm still glad I did my remake, which retains the original gfx AND has extra levels (even if it's unofficial and doesn't have the same A.I.)
I'll still buy it though, just to play with high fps with the original gfx there was an aborted attempt at redoing the game with extruded pseudo 3D gfx, looked a lot nicer (demo on youtube) |

Also even in comparison it's obvious that the sounds of the original are much superior. If this is to show us how amazing the original, then they are very good at that.

Is it just me, or does the "new" character look like the Donald Trump?

It's this mismatch we saw a lot in the late 90's in many PC games, which had a combination of 2D graphics for the backgrounds, and 3D renderings for the animated graphics with lighting that didn't match the surroundings.
IMO they should've used the "2.5D" look where the graphics are in 3D and the level design and gameplay is in 2D. |

I do not like this remake at all, sorry to say that.
Just look at this picture, the men has still the walking animation even if he is falling. The visual effects have also a bad transparency. The original GFX is by far better, with more personality |

Well remaking a well known and loved game and not deliver anything vaguely great looking you are setting yourself up for a bashing imo. If it was for an original game then nobody would have battered an eyelid.

no 3D or Unity here: http://jotd.pagesperso-orange.fr/gods/ and it runs on windows mac and linux. There is even a Pandora conversion somewhere.
special fx: you can have green hero (not my favorite, but still...) [ Show youtube player ] I can't find the link on the (aborted) remake which used extruded 2,5d graphics. That looked awesome. If someone has it... Last edited by jotd; 10 April 2017 at 16:00. |

It looks shit. Why are HD remakes so poor graphically??? They should take the Amiga original and improve the graphics. They need to be detailed pixel art and not bullshit semi-3d rendered...
When will these developers learn?? |

What do you call those things, where people cut out faces and other parts of photos from magazines, and paste them together into a picture? That's what this trailer looks like to me. The dragon, the main character, all look like they're badly photoshopped in with scissors and glue. The character animation looked like two different pictures that were swapped between, not an animation.
It's sad. How can someone release something that looks so poorly made? Is it possible that they've run out of money and just have to release the pre-alpha prototype? Maybe whoever did the graphics is out of their league, and is someone's friend and can't be replaced? I'd be interested in seeing the 2.5D thing jotd mentioned. |
