Playing games on NTSC without music tempo increasing
I just tried setting Indiana Jones 4 Fate of Atlantis in NTSC mode and the music is playing at correct tempo without losing sync.
Is there any way to patch games (for example Lotus2 and Lotus3) to play the music at correct tempo even in NTSC mode? I guess Indy4 uses a different timing device than for example, Lotus3. |

Perhaps it would require rewriting the code of the music player? And if that's the case I doubt it, or would mean a ton of work for the WHDLoader's.. Would be nice to play some of those games in ntsc and have the music play at original tempo.
I wonder if it's possible to alter the playback speed of the music module, change the tempo instructions, make them slower than normal so that when the game goes into ntsc it plays normal. Here's an experiment to try. 1. Grab a well know protracker module 2. Load it into protracker 3. Alter the playback tempo, make it play slower by 20% or so (will play badly and effect loops that require correct tempo) 4. Save the altered module 5. Switch to ntsc and playback module 6. Does the module now sound correct? Changing the tempo would be tricky, you would need work out the speed increase that ntsc gives and translate that into the music players tempo method.. Maybe somebody with coding/whdload experience can dismiss this theory? Because it could be bollocks Last edited by lordofchaos; 19 February 2017 at 12:01. |

Indy4 is fully system-friendly, Lotus 2 and 3 disable the system and use the hardware directly, no (timing) devices used at all. |
