Didn't get anything delivered, but I found a Sega Dreamcast in some fly-tipped rubbish while I was out walking on my lunch. I actually recognised the power button poking out of a bin liner. It's mucky as hell, but otherwise perfect. Even if it doesn't work, it'll be a good donor machine for my other DCs, and a clean, retrobrited case will be very useful!

Another A500, £40!. The floppy drive works fine but a few of the keys don't work.

Picked up an old Ibanez TR-series bass from (I think) the early '90s - needs a little TLC, but it sounds great!

I picked up an Amiga 600, 2 days ago and ..well.. i'm not sure, might be a rare one.
Its fairly unmodified, just a ram expansion (using 30pin simms) so 2 mb chip. Quite clean, has Harddrive, picked up 70 odd disks, busted mouse (ball and ball holder missing). So why after two days am i getting excited? Well i was reading a page Amiga4ever.nl and this text appeared. "The Amiga 600HD/40 was the top of the range 600 boasting the largest built in hard drive. These machines were very rare, most 600s were sold without hard drive, some with 20MB but the 40 was hardly ever sold. And of these 40MB models very few were labeled 600HD/40 like this one." Well this machine is labelled as A600 HD and has a 40mb drive. Since the rest of the machine is quite untouched, i believe this may be the original drive from Commodore. I am of course removing it, cloning it with Winuae and keeping it safe and using CF card when i decide which one to get Is there a way to tell if it is infact an original 40mb or maybe it was upgraded during its early life. |

You could check to see if the security seal is still in intact. On my A600 it covers one of the screw holes at the front of the Amiga (slap-bang in the middle of the space bar, but underneath). If it's pristine, then it's likely that the HDD is original.

Well I don't think it would be possible to determine, really. But if all that is different is the hard drive, then it's not worth fussing about.
