Current PlipBox Power question...
Will the current plipbox design
needing only +5v and a newer +12v 3a/ -12v 2a/ +5v 3a switching power supply support it without the use of an external 5v supply? With a fuse-able resistor upgraded from 1/8w to 1/2w that is? Thoughts? |

Beware, there appear to be different variants of the PLIPBox that have different power requirements. One variant uses 5V directly, the other has a solid-state relay or something and a 5V regulator, and needs around 8-9V to work.
I have been working on some replacement PSUs for someone, and by request have been adding a DC out jack to them to provide a 5V supply for a PLIPBox. 3A should be enough on the 5V line for the Amiga and modest expansions. I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding the resistor however... |

Its a true dedicated 5v plipbox.
The resistor is the one used as a "fuse" on the mainboard of the amiga to blow out if too much load is applied, same as the joy/mouse port resistor. From pin 14 of parallel port... Last edited by BMD; 17 September 2018 at 19:23. |
