Problems powering up.
Hello!
I just got an Amiga 500 from a friend. The problem is that i will not power up. no flashing lights nothing happening at all, it is completley dead. I opened it up and took some pictures. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5922/dscn1741n.jpg Here is a image of a strange cable, did not find this cables at other amiga 500 pictures http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/5343/dscn1742j.jpg And here is the switch behind the strange cables. it says it is an AC, so something with the power, these cables is not plugged in anywhere. But those cables should not matter? other amigas does not seem to have them. http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/4494/dscn1743e.jpg Any idea what the problem can be and what to do? Got a nice packages with bunch of games and other stuff. Kind Regards Klokan |

First thing to do: sack out the expansion RAMĀ¹.
No go? Measure the power rails (if you have electronic skills), specially the +5V. +5V OK? No bananas? Reseat all socketed chips. No video/power LED? Replace the CPU. *1: that switch on the back is supposed to hook in the "jumper" on the RAM expansion to disable it at boot time to play ancient games that don't "like" more than 512kb RAM. BTW: remove that barrel battery on the expansion RAM board before it start to leak and corrode the Amiga board away! |
