Incorrect free space shown in Workbench 3.1
I want to set up a 10gb 2.5" hard drive in my 1200 ideally with one small boot partition and the rest in another.
I’ve created a 10gb hard file image in Winuae to test things out before copying everything over. It’s been setup and partitioned using ClassicWB 3.9 with PFS3-AIO. All appears fine in Workbench 3.9 and ClassicWB 3.1 with Scalos. The problem is that the free space shown on the large 9gb partition is incorrect in Workbench 3.1, including BetterWB (my choice). The problem persists even using a replacement SCSI.device. Is it impossible to get the free space to show correctly in 3.1? If so, is it safe to ignore this and use anyway? (avoiding software that is known to cause problems) Thanks |

It is not a scsi.device problem, 3.1 just uses small variables to display the size and it wraps around. Just ignore it.

Use command Info http://aminet.net/package/util/sys/info on OS 3.1 to get correct values.

You would need to upgrade workbench.library (but then why not upgrade everything to 3.1.4.1) or switch to dopus or scalos workbench replacements.

Ah Ok, thanks. I'll just ignore it then. I want to keep this install as a "pure" 3.1 ClassicWB installation (only patched scsi.device).

Just notice that the free size on the window will show a fraction of 2GB (if not 4GB). If you add 1GB data then it will show 2GB (if not 4GB) free. 32 bit address space with overflow.
