didn't NBS have an office in the Isle of Wight?

and weren't they more of a distributer rather than group compiling PD software (i.e. 17-bit software or Assassins)?

NBS (Newport Business Supplies) were a PD library based on the Isle of Wight. I bought all my disks with them by the hundreds, in the end I got them for half price from them.

I met them (Paul I think was the main bloke) at the 1988 Computer Show at the Novatel in Hammersmith where one of the blokes was writing a demo in Amos that was beyond abismal.

In the end I think I had over 2500 of their disks which I threw out as I got the Aminet/17-Bit/Athemea stuff on CD. I regret it now as I got some stuff off them that was never generally released.

what i mean is did NBS stuff have an intro, if not how do you know that it's a NBS release or not...

... i remember getting Switchback by Rebels from NBS and a mate got it from somewhere else, there was no difference between them, so i think my question is a fair one.

How about this: has anybody got one of their catalogs? Or catalog disk? Or one of those ads with a zillion disks listed? After all, the idea is to figure out which disks aren't available elsewhere.

I personally am looking for the United PD collection and a couple of others that are on CD from various UK PD outlets. Anybody know where to find such beasties?

Update time

I have just acquired a bundle of 100! All original. I did go for another 100 bundle of these but lost out, somebody else was keen.

I would love to know who it was, the ultimate goal is to image and get them out there. I know they were just another pd outfit, but they did exist so imho worth it. I still love the disk label design even after all these years lol.
