You may try Ctrl D or Ctrl C but it may not work in games.

Check the keyboard ribbon cable is seated properly.
Remove the retaining clip first before removing the ribbon cable.
Clean the end of the ribbon cable and check for damage.
Sometimes cutting 5mm off of the end can give a better contact for tired ribbon cables.

Hi.
Perhaps the problem is the membrane. You will have to disassemble the keyboard, see if the track is in good this membrane. You can test it with a multimeter.
If this cut can repair using silver paint.

If it is only one key not working it is not a broken trace on the membrane or the connector to the motherboard. If that was the case then a row of keys would be none working. There is probably something wrong with the contact points (for the esc key) on the membrane or the key clip itself. I would open it and have a look at the membrane and the key clip. Maybe change the key clip to see if it makes a difference

Slightly off topic, if you run games using whdload, use cd32load instead, and you can remap esc on a joypad button, or mouse.
