Re-map button rawcodes?
Is there a way to re-map button rawcodes?
I would like to map the C button on my Genesis controller to the UP/jump rawcode? |

Buttons don't have raw codes.

Rawkey codes are for the WHDLoad Quitkey. The game needs to be patched, if you want up/jump mapped to a joypad button. There is also an easy hardware mod for the Sega Mega Drive pad.

Software should be able to fix it... It's just a matter of input mapping. The OS tells the game which key/button is pressed, that's why each OS has a keymapper (to handle all the different keyboard layouts without hw changes). Amiga OS has one too, so it should be feasible.

It doesn't work that way since the most Amiga games aren't programmed OS friendly. So a proper joypad patch for every specific game is needed. Check the WHDLoad readmes for some of those patches with additional joypad support, e.g. Hybris, Flashback, Battle Squadron, Giana Sisters etc.

Games don't use the OS. That's why you need WHDLoad to run them. And no, joystick buttons don't have raw codes in the OS, either.

There should be an input interpreter somewhere (module in the kickstarter?), how else is the hardware communicating with the games?
