A600 + ACA620 Rev2 + 32gb SD: which ClassicWB?

After lots of experiments, I installed my Amiga OS 3.9 with all the boingbags from 1 to 4 in a SanDisk SDHC 10x 32Gb.
I'm almost done...but...which ClassicWB should I choose?
I will use it for retrogaming with both WHDLoads and floppyes and personal games (SIMULMONDO DYLAN DOG) installed in the HDD..I would like a good compromise between speed & graphics, and I will use a 32" CRT TV (like in the good ol'times)

Keep in mind that CWB replaces your system - you can just run WHDLoad with a vanilla OS3.9, if you wish. There is actually no need to install CWB unless you want the added eyecandy + loads of preinstalled stuff

You need to install ClassicWB directly, if you want it (that means formatting ).

GAAE/68K run on a simple 68000 and are quite barebones - if you're using 3.9 right now you obviously can do a bit more than that

You can try CWB OS39 http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/os39.htm but you will need a display which supports Interlaced (most LCDs do).

If your monitor/TV doesn't do interlaced, then you can run CWB LITE http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/lite.htm which is 3.1 based.

Your hardware supports all the CWB versions out there except P96 and UAE, you just need to test them and see if they're fast enough for your likings!

It has to be said that most people prefer having at least a 030 for running 3.9 as the system will be snappier with that.
Uhm...I don't think I don't need 3.9 installed.

"You'll need a valid OS 3.9 install updated with Boing Bags 1 and 2, without one this pack will fail."

so, I DO need the 0S 3.9 installed...

You can use cwb 3.9 but I recommend using PeterK's Icon Library as it speeds things up, especially on ECS Amiga's.

You will also need a flicker fixer or monitor which deinterlaces for 3.9 and Adv /Adv sp packs since they use 640*512

Otherwise stick with full or lite packs depending on whether you want scalos. Scalos is also included with Adv /Adv sp which is a workbench replacement in it's self.

Note lite and full packs are faster on ECS Amiga's as they use 8 colours.

Oh that happens only with 3.9/3.5 as they're from CDs, I guess.
Used ClassicWB only a few times, there's a lot of fun in creating a perfect WB install yourself!
The other CWBs need to be reinstalled from scratch using the floppies/ADFs.

Be careful that Boing Bags 3+4 might give some problems in the CWB3.9 install as it has more updated stuff in it than what the installer expects, and it could end up overwriting something with older versions.

Funny, bot my A1200/A4000 work perfectly in 640x512 even without a scandoubler by just using the cable I built following Stedy's diagram.
Gotta admit that I get a bit of blurring with fast moving stuff (like the mouse cursor), but otherwise the image is rock solid.

Can't you just reduce the colors to 8 on CWB3.9 too?

Uhm...I've tried both ClassicWB Full and Classic OS 3.9. They are catchy, but IMHO they run slow in my hardware. Or, quoting stevefitz's video...EYE CANDY (how I love English pronunciation...)
Also, I'm not gonna use a LCD monitor / TV BY NOW, so I'm not gonna buy any flicker fixer.
I'll use my Amiga on an old CRT TV so I won't use interlaced res

ADVSP is THE choice. OS3.9 is veeeeeeeeery slow, and I don't like Full...
IMHO ADVSP is the good compromise.
What do Steve & jbenam think?

So is scalos the only difference between the two? (minus igame) I'm trying to figure this out myself just now.

Not only the scalos but also the icons

http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/introduction.htm

"If you own a 68030 then yet another optional package exists - ADVSP. The only difference to the ADV version is the presence of "Newicons", which traditionally require more screen colours and CPU power. This Newicon ADVSP may in fact run reasonably well with an 020, although the normal icons present in the ADV and below are recommended for best performance."

IMHO ADVSP is the good compromise.
What do Steve & jbenam think?
IMHO the problem with ADVSP is that the NewIcons look kinda squished on non-interlaced screens.

Have you tried ADV? The icons don't use NewIcons, so they should be lighter and also look a bit better than ADVSP when on non-interlaced screens.

I think the other things should be quite similiar...

BTW, FULL seems to have Scalos too. Only Lite uses the standard WB.

Uhm...I'll try tonite, by the moment I'm still stuck on WinUAE so my tests are a bit limited.

Oh I see, that's why you didn't notice the issue with the icons

You should test it on your Amiga and see if you like it

Eh...I would test it on Amiga...if only the MOFO SD-IDE Adapter had arrived!
