Problems with CF Card

Hi there,

I am facing a strange problem...

I am using an Amiga 1200 with Blizzard 1230IV and 16MB Fast Ram.

Furthermore I am using a 4GB CF Card from SanDisc, Model Ultra with 30MB/s transfer rate as HD replacement.

The card has two partitions. One of 330MB for the OS (OS 3.5) and a second for my WHDLoad Archive.

Now the problem: When trying to start WHDLoad Games from the second partition, nearly 60% of them don't work or have corrupted graphic. (Don't work means "Doesen't start or getting confusing error messages")

The funny thing is, if I copy a "non working" WHDLoad game form the 2nd to the 1st partition and start it from there everything works fine!
Same thing when I copy it to the CF Card used with my PCMCIA Adapter.

So what is going on here?
May it be caused by the 4GB CF Card from SanDisc?
But if so, why do the games only work from partition 1 and not from partition 2?

I am confused!

Check MaxTransfer of the big partition.

Dear thomas,

I did check out with the Toolbox.
Here it comes (in German):

Kennung: 0x444F5303
Maske: 0x7FFFFFFE
Max. Transfer: 0x00FFFFFF
Blockgröße: 512

Hope that helps.

btw: Same values for the Boot Partition...

MaxTransfer needs to be set to 0x1fe00 for all IDE devices.

I wonder how you could miss this. It was mentioned in almost every CF-related thread here and in other forums.
