Any alternative way of transfering huge data to CF other then thru Workbench?
I'm trying to install AROS and it takes ages to copy all the 800mb files to my CF card (using emulator). Any other way of copying these files, using PC or PC-based app?
Thanks. |

Use DOpus to copy the files instead of WB. Also set your emulator to JIT and maximum speed, and it should be quick.

Ok. in the meantime I decided to just mount the Aros directory as a hardrive. Placed both ROM bins (rom and extended) in WinUae (using Aros specific config) and all I get is the DOS screen, Aros won't boot any further?

Get a faster CF card. Given that you use a fast WinUAE config ("High end" quickstart), CF card write speed is the bottleneck, not the emulator.

Add some extra Disk buffers in Workbench, i.e type in shell:
addbuffers DH0: 1000 Replace DH0 with the drive you're using This will help if you are transferring a lot of smaller files. Or as Thomas says a faster CF can help, i.e my 133x Verbatim & Transcend CF's fill up a lot faster than my generic ones. |
