Any suggestions for good party games?
After a retro gaming evening with colleagues a while ago I started to think about what games there are that work well when the number of players reaches over four.
A couple that worked great were California games and Bomberman. What other great games are there (any platform) that works with more than four players (either pass the joystick/pad or fast rotation of players)? |

Sensible Soccer perhaps if that is fast enough in rotation?

Micro Machines, Super Skidmarks or Arcade Pool. We used to play championships with my friends all the time, worked great.
Another vote for SWOS. |

If you've got two systems, Stunt Car Racer with a serial cable

How wide does "any platform" go? Any retro platform or any era, including current gen?

My initial thought was 8 and 16-bits retro platforms since they have good support on for instance Raspberry Pi (which we used for convenience on our retro gaming evening). But since we'll might do some modern gaming evenings I'm open for suggestions on modern platforms also

Thanks for some really good suggestions!
We'll most likely be having a SWOS tournament and also try out the other games mentioned. I'm a bit surprised that some titles that I used to play a lot back in the days had totally slipped my mind, like Knock out 2 and Zany golf. Some new interesting titles that I wasn't aware of also, like Sneech. |

Total Chaos AGA has a slight learning curve but will do 8 players easy. I would suggest keeping it in newbie mode.
