Question WinUAE v2.6.1 - problems using FFS HDFs with Workbench 1.3

When v2.6.0 was released,my old OFS Workbench 1.3 HDF volumes wouldn't mount anymore. That discussion and resolution can be found in this thread:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=69265

Anyway, I decided to convert all my OFS volumes to FFS and after being converted they all boot correctly with WinUAE v2.6.0. Now with WinUAE v2.6.1, I'm seeing a different "Not a DOS disc in Unit 0" error come up when Workbench attempts to boot from these same FFS HDFs.

Has anyone else come across this yet? I can add logs if needed. It's just weird that this worked fine in v2.6.0 and then broke in v2.6.1! I noticed that if I remove "fastfilesystem" from my ROMs folder and use my old OFS volumes those boot fine in v2.6.1.

My hint in the linked thread is still valid: use RDB mode, then file system and geometry are stored in the HDF and you don't need to care about WinUAE config. Furthermore you can use VHD files which take up only that space on your Windows HDD which is used for Amiga files.

Include logs from both versions (working and non-working)

Okay, I'm attaching the logs for both v2.6.0 (working) and v2.6.1 (not working). I can see some differences in the logging when it gets to the part where it mounts the volume but I don't know enough about the emulator to understand why. Maybe I didn't correctly format the new volumes for FFS?

A fresh HDF/VHD in RDB mode is not bootable. You have to initialize it with HDInstTools, just like a real harddrive.

Gotcha. Well, I'd like to see what Toni comes back with. I'm not opposed to recreating these volumes again but I want to make sure I get it right this time.

It is a bug (quite stupid even) when mounting plain hardfiles. http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip should fix it. (If not, attach log again, only winuaelog.txt is needed)

Hi, Toni.

Unfortunately, I still see the same error message: Not a DOS disk in Unit 0.

Log files are attached.

EDIT: Oops; attached both log files. Habit I guess.

Okay, that did the trick, Toni. It now works like it did in WinUAE v2.6.0.

Thanks for the fix, my good man!
