Title/menutune of Spaceport (Reline)

Dear gang,

so far I never made WinUAE play the title/menutune of Reline's Spaceport right.
The sound is out of sync and has many distortions and noises.
Also the whdinstaller can't get it right. The music is badly out of sync.
The problem "sounds" somehow compareable to the music-problems in the original releases of Faery Tale Adventure.

Any ideas how to get it to work right?

If not, can anybody make a recording of the music on a real A500/A1000 with Kick 1.2 (just to hear how it should sound)?

Believe it or not I just tested this game on my real A500 with kickstart 1.3 and the menu music plays fine. It’s just in WinUAE that it seems to be corrupt.

What exactly is the configuration? Is it a bare A500 512KB+512KB OCS?

Dear Ross,

I seriously tested all configuartions I could possibly think of. Including bare A500 512K Chip OCS with or without some slow RAM. But also Full ECS , more or less memory, other Kickstarts, Cycle exact, PAL, NTSC, played with sound-settings etc. etc.

Please let me know if you want me to make specific tests on my side. I'll gladly make videos of it or tell you about the details.

It’s 512k+512k with the ECS Agnus 8372a and standard Denise.

Dear Superman, yes it works perfect on a real Amiga, but the sound/music never ever worked on emulation. The game itself plays fine. Thank you so much for helping!!!:-)

I wouldn't say that. It plays fine with Denise emulator and vAmigaWeb.

That was quite stupid "bug". Audio period min was set to 4, to keep CPU usage lower when programs do stupid things (which was important many years ago). And this game's audio code is totally stupid and it really needs period = 1.
4.9+ versions broke this even more when interrupt timing was made cycle accurate, it made period == 1 case even worse

It goes something like this:

<previous sample can be still playing>
Write AUDxPER=1
CPU delay loop
Disable channel's DMA
Immediately update audio registers
Start channel's DMA

"Immediately update" part can only work correctly if AUDxPER=1 which allows channel to go idle state almost immediately after DMA off.

It is already fixed in development version.

Please allow me to to something helpful here:-) I can confirm that the music in Spaceport works perfect with the latest dev-version
(tested with ipf and my original dump of Fantastic 4-compilation!)

I know you know that is works, but I just wanted to do something and test myself...ol:-)

Thank you soooooo much!!!

I felt like I did something in the past for this game and indeed:
https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=96895

I searched and searched and found what I had done in March/April 2019

From the source:
Code:
dc.b	' finally a complete rework for this game by ross /'
dc.b	' so many code to patch... / salute to all eab members!'
	dc.b	' / signing off, ross (04/2019) //'
I tried compiling and it works, but I can't remember anything about what was missing (or done..).

But looking at the sources it's a version that should work on every Amiga, and that finally has a crack that really works.
All existing versions stop asking for a code during the second level.

Stay tuned!

Spaceport was interestingly good enough for 1987, i did got my floppy of it even before having my Amiga 500 (started to hoard software like six months before)
