OS 4.1 "mask" filesystem which one to choose?
Hello, I'm sorry, at the moment I use a real hard drive to use winUAE,
I used "x76" with uaehf.device I am using SFS \ 02 0x53465302 blocksize 512 buffers 600 I would like to know if possible the differences between these values in "mask" anymemory anymemory 32bit <--- I currently use this and it works fine 24bit dma memory do the values above affect the speed of the sfs filesystem? Thanks for any help. |

I guess that "anymemory" is 0x7ffffffff, "32bit" is 0xffffffff and 24bit is 0x00ffffff.
anymemory 31bit vs. 32bit does not make a difference for OS 3, but OS 4 might be able to handle memory with the high-order bit set, so 32bit is the one to choose. 24bit DMA should only be used with SCSI controllers which do DMA in Zorro2 space. Choosing the wrong mask might slow down disk operations because buffers will be copied forth and back if memory type does not match. |

It doesn't do any harm with 0xffffffff instead of 0x7fffffff in the 68k OS:es. If it is so that the the OS doesn't support memory in the last 2GB address space, there won't be any buffers allocated there for the device to transfer data to/from, so it can't possibly be a problem.
