Leaderboard December 2020: P.P. Hammer & Pinball Dreams
I doubt this will come as a surprise but this is the final round of Leaderboard. It's been a lot of fun and thank you to everyone that has taken part either playing, voting or just chatting. Of course this is in part because I have agreed to run the Super League again, and it makes sense to put all efforts into that. I've just announced some intended changes for the League that will give us a good year of gaming in 2021. In the meantime there are two cool games left for this year. Brought to you by the letter P. P.P. Hammer and his impressive Pneumatic Weapon is a puzzling platform game across 60 levels. Bashing your way through blocks to grab all the treasure. And Pinball Dreams is simply a great quick to play classic for us to finish on. So let's crack on. P.P. Hammer * Get the highest score you can. Pinball Dreams * Get the highest score you can. * Combine your scores from all 4 tables. Round Ends: 23:59 (UK Time) on Thursday 31st December 2020 Score Badges:

Pinball training has commenced!
The physics aren't quite as bad as I remember. The ball sometimes jerks a bit at low speed, that's my only complaint. It dead bounces off a stationary flipper to the other reliably. And it can be bounced from one flipper to the other with tilt. Tilt seems very generous in this game, which I like. |

129,407,046 My opening score. The bottom two tables seem easier than the top two. |

After a dozen truly awful goes something finally went right on Ignition. Mostly one ball, plus an extra ball. Think I'll move on to Steel Wheel before rage levels are too intense.

182,417,035 Some improvements. I think the Nightmare table is my favorite. I find it easier to get into a flow than the others. |

Oh smeg! The timer runs out and you lose all lives. Oops. Rubbish score but for now I'm gonna keep playing through the levels. More interested in finishing this one.
What level were you on Harry? 5,045 |

I looked at the youtube videos of PP Hammer, and the later levels are huge and difficult. At start its a nice game, but becomes too difficult for my taste.
I was in level 16, I think. |

Enjoyed Pinball Dreams (and a bit of PP Hammer) a lot this month, although no impressive scores to submit here! Thank you for the chance to give this classic some love!

And that's a wrap.
It's been fun doing this and we tried out a whole load of good games. A surprising number of Amiga exclusives which I really liked. Thanks for playing along everyone. In the end Harry had the most 1st place finishes and makes a natural Player of the Year. Well done. And between us we managed 20 game completions. Happy new year and hopefully see you in the Super League. |

@Biscuit: Any news on when Leaderboard will be starting up for January 2021?

I think this was the last round of the Leaderboard competition. As Biscuit is going to be the mod of Super League going forward, he has included some of Leaderboard's features into the upcoming Super League season instead of running two competitions side-by-side.

It's like capehorn said.
Maybe Leaderboard will return one day, even if just for a single round, or to play a couple of games that can't be scored. Who knows. There are a few games that I would like to have a proper go at finishing that don't suit the super league because of no score or are too long. Fury of the Furries, Bill's Tomato Game, Dimo's Quest, X-It, Push-Over, The Lost Vikings, Pango, Bob's Bad Day, Chip's Challenge, Kiro's Quest, Timekeepers. Don't know what interest other people having in them, or if it's worth putting up a thread for any of them for a casual long form playthrough over a few months. To see how far people get, using the passwords for levels instead of playing in one sitting. That's the sort of thing that would interest me, time permitting. Just a thought. |

I hope Leaderboard returns, I enjoyed very much the casual, fun, friendly competition there, as well as the various hints.
