Shadow of the Beast demo
Hey, that's a classic, dudes!
I want the demo version, please! It's almost a part of the Amiga's history, isn't it ? Helped to sell a lot of A500 machines, no doubt ?! Please. |

Nope... It's just a rolling demo of several parts.

No, only WHDload. (Perhaps IPF I cannot remember if I sent it to SPS)
It is a copy protected format which cannot be converted to ADF. There may be a crack floating around. The SOTB III demo was cracked and widely spread. |

The one I used to install the whdload is here:
http://p.muhlheim.free.fr/Amiga/demo..._BeastDemo.lzx I can't check inside the lzx to see what format it is, but it might be worth taking a look to see if it runs without whdload if you really want to. |

That is psygore's homepage and that is the entire WHDload slave and image made from the warped disk image I gave him.
Crap was that really five years ago? |

Hehe, well there ya go
Damn these work PCs for not having lzx as standard 5 years ago... I remember having to hunt high and low for any whdload installed stuff, it's amazing the amount of stuff that's happened in that time. |

Well it's a rolling demo so you can't actually play it
I can't believe there wasn't a coverdisk of it somewhere along the line |

One quick question: why protect a demo?. it was a kind of movie, so no playing possible, then why they protected it?.

Apparently back in the day, game demos wouldn't be spread by the scene unless they had to be cracked. By protecting it, it meant it was worth spreading for groups because they had the skill to crack it!

You really think so?? Isnt there a disk duplicator app provided on the disk? If so I dont think "cracking" is the reason.
I bet it is more laziness. They didnt want have to re-write their disk routines Or perhaps they needed a custom format to get the amount of data on the disk they wanted. |
