Strange Amiga IC Socket Board...
Hello,
This is my first time posting here, so I apologize if this is not the right forum for this. But I recently got some Amiga stuff from a guy whose father worked on upgrading various computers around the time of the mid 80's to early 90's. I have a box full of chips and inside was this peculiar looking device with no markings on it. I tried looking up some of the chips on it and I can not come to any conclusion as to what it exactly is or if it even is for an Amiga. Could anyone shed some light on this possibly? Any help is greatly appreciated! |

Hi, well it has more chips, but essentially the board is
still just a memory (ROM). It has buffered interface, and maybe the PAL is doing address translation. I don't recognise it as an Amiga thing, but that's not saying much. |

Never seen anything like that plugged onto an Amiga motherboard at least. The ICs appear to be an EPROM, EEPROM, programmable logic and some plain logic chips so could be for a myriad of purposes really. If it's Amiga related I would suspect some kind of bug fix or addition for a peripheral.
If you are able to dump the contents of the ROMs, that might reveal its origins. |

I have no way of dumping the contents Another thing dawned on me too, I wonder if it is for the Apple II since there is an IC socket you can utilize for devices such as joysticks. And as xArtx mentioned before, with the PAL, is this also the same same PAL that is used in European TVs? Forgive my ignorance on this matter!

PAL in TV's is different to PAL in logic chips, in this case it stands for Programmable Array Logic and is a way of programming logic functions into a chip!

Hmm,
some A2000s had a small fix that reminds me of that but I don't have a link ... |
