Protracker Modfiles Destroyed after Backup

Hi there,
I have a question. Since I did tons of music on my old Amiga 2000 I started to back them up at some point on a CF card. The backups I kept on a PC harddrive later on. Everything was kept safe, but now I noticed after copying them on my Amiga 1200 internal CF card, that ALL of the backed up tracks are destroyed. They can be loaded, but something changed all sample data in a random order, so no way to play any of the tracks properly.
I suppose there is no way of repairing them with a tool?

How is it even possible that an one to one copy of the files can change some bits in the mods itself.. ?

Luckily, I still have the Amiga 2000 stored, but it was quite some work to have them backed up on the CF card..

Thanks for any advice!

Sounds like a wrong MaxTranfer setting. All files larger than 128KB are corrupted.

Whether you can get the data back depends on which of the CF cards had the wrong setting and if you still have correct copies.

If the corruption happened during the first backup from Amiga 2000 to CF card, then everything is lost. (Why didn't you check the backup? A backup which cannot be restored is worthless.)

If the copies on your PC harddrive are ok and you used the PC (WinUAE) to copy the files to a CF card and only on the Amiga the files cannot be read, then you can simply correct the MaxTransfer value and all is ok.

Hi there, oh OK!
As far as I remember I used them on an Amiga 600 as well.. But it is so occasionally that things got have confused..
I will check on these things.. Didn't know about Max transfer and that I HAVE to use WIN UAE for copying.. Thought a digital copy is always one to one .. Arrgh
But thanks for your reply!!
Best, TTT

With WinUAE you can make image of your hard drive. In "CD & hard drives" press "Add Hard Drive..." button and in opened window you will see "Create hard disk image file" button.
