Bristol nostalgia?

So back in the day Bristol was home to Metacomco, maybe if they had played their cards right they could have been as big as Apple or M$ today.

So I couldn't help myself, went round to 26 Portland Square today, first time ever even though I'm a stones throw at most away from this place. To pay homage? Only yuppie hipster flats (usa=apartments) to be found there, disappointed no one was at number 26 to take my cv (usa=resume). Those hipsters are too cool man. There's a basement bar in one of the buildings (closed today due to covid) but I might go back there and have a few west country ciders once things are open again, reminisce with the bar staff, although they won't have a clue about Compilers and Assemblers I'm sure. It's in St. Paul's though, this square is little yuppie haven in an otherwise place full of odd balls, freaks, dope heads, beggars and your usual assortment west country Bristol nobbers.

Well I hope you enjoyed that little trip down the west country memory lane (ohhhh arrrrghhhh).
The Metacomco assembler was clunky compared to Devpac, it was all command line and linking was done separately (the old fashioned way!), but it did the job. Many of the old games would have been written using it, I'm thinking Star Wars and Marble Magic, the real old stuff.

Building pic #2 is more what I expected when I think of my 1 visit to Bristol :P
I don't remember MetaComo, cool that they produced/distributed all these languages, even for the Sinclair QL (pretty short-lived machine).
