I played it and have a score but I haven't upped it yet. The game though is like Super Hang On with old planes, never played it before now

6-3!

Just how many stages are there in this, I thought there were 16? Like if its three stages (+bonus) that means its 5 sets of 3 stages, with the final stage being 5-3?

Well, I know there are at least 6 sets of 3 stages
I was expecting to see an end screen after level 4.. was surprised to see it keeps going!
(and keeps getting harder).

I'm not sure which score to go by. The one on top right (127,005) or the one on the scoreboard. On an earlier snapshot (for my other score) they were both the same. Is this normal? (I'm using the ADF)
I will list the one on the scoreboard for now.

Yep it's normal. It adds the best run of the your final event to the score, so in this case you must have made it further in your first attempt.

BTW a good tip to all is that bonus time carries over to every event of a single level, so you really want to fly like a madman from the start - use dives to boost speed as much as possible.
A good start to the game would be:
Event 1 - 27 secs left
Event 2 - 32 secs left
Event 3 - 30 secs left
etc

Ahh, that makes sense now

I try to fly as fast as possible, but sometimes they manage to fly right where I'm trying to (e.g. as I fly higher, so do they ). Flying in to the back of fellow racers does bring some humourous screens though

First time I played this properly last night, it does have its own charm and I quite enjoyed it. Found it a little tough going a first as it took me a bit too long to figure out you didn't need to hold down the fire button (!) but I will definitely be coming back for another go.

Same here. It's one of those games that gets better and more enjoyable the more you play it.

Discovering this game is probably the most pleasant surprise I've had in the three years I've been playing the Super League. It's so simple but addictive, I love the controls, the sounds are very effective (especially the hum you hear when there's a plane behind you offscreen but approaching you), the cut screens are good humoured, and the game's charms somehow allow me to forigve the slightly dodgy collision detect. The bonus rounds also add variety.
