Emulating Amiga on PPC Macs....SUCK
One advantage that Windows (purely because of the ubiquity of Windows) has over Mac OS is the preponderance of superb emulators. WinUAE is brilliant, STeem Engine is fantastic, etc.
So my attempts to emulate Amiga on any Mac I have ever had stinks. Solution: Buy that Intel iMac I have been saving up for, and then I can use all the windows emus I want |

windows has a MUCH larger userbase from any other OS , which give it a huge advantage, no matter how much better (if better) any other os is... in the end it all comes down to numbers...

The same story in Linux really. Emulators in general are pretty poor there, and the whole Linux 'backend/frontend' method just doesn't work for me.
WinUAE with it's integrated GUI and unbelievable feature set won't be beaten. I think Fred has the right idea. There's no point struggling with rubbish emulators (with all due respect to the developers) when you can install Windows and use it solely for that. |

What is kinda sad is we Macsters rely on Richard for a lot of our emulation needs. He is damn good, just that it would be nicer if we had more guys. |

I was looking at a guy at CompUSA here show gawking people (including myself) running Vista Pro and OSX Tiger in BootCamp and Parallels, and I was amazed, how rapid and blazing both OS's were, and how beautiful they looked on a 20" iMac. Ok Vista is no Tiger, but it is a lot better looking than XP. Anyway Mick, the iMac i want is $2000, so i am saving 1% ($20) a day by cutting back on luxuries here and there. By the early spring that iMac shall be mine |

UAE on the Mac is pretty much unuseable without the Hi-Toro GUI, though even then the core of the emulator lags far behind the Windows version. Last time I checked it didn't even have a save game option which is essential unless you have the time to play everything from start to finish in one sitting.
Sometimes you're better off playing Amiga ports with SNES9x or ZSNES. These two are as advanced as the Windows versions. They've got to the stage where there's very little that could be done to improve them. |

True dream, the UAE core for Mac is decrepit. I tried Hi-Toro and could never get it to work.
As for the SNES emulators, they are probably the best emulators on Mac now. |
