Good Alternative to X1000
What is a Good Alternative to the X1000 Computer? Is the Pegasos 2 Motherboard still up to date with the latest Amiga Software. Does it run slower than AmigaOne computer's that have been released within the last few years since Pegasos 2 is almost 10 years old now. How much are PowerPC's these days? Thanks.

Get a PC, an i7 with Windows 7 and use WinUAE that emulates PPC reasonably well with that spec.
It will be much cheaper and upgradeable. You can use it for much more than just Amiga-ish stuff. You wont need to pay premium prices for hardware or find old and overpriced expansions. |

I'm no expert in this, as the only experience I have is classic Amiga with PPC accelerator, where the lack of ram is the main problem.
Other possibilities is the Samflex boards, but those seems to be sold out right noe(round EUR 840). The X1000 replacement with code name Cyrus is supposed to be around half the price of the X1000, but if that is true, or if/when it will be for sale is unkown. But you can read the specs here. What are you planning to use it for. Your questions is difficult to answer without knowing that. Is it Os 4.1? or maybe Morphos. If the latter I would get an old mac, as they are way cheaper than anything else, and still have good performance. Go here too find out which Macs are supported. |

Thanks for your help. My plan is to get the Pegasus 2 Board equipped to a Power PC. Going to save up for an X5000 when it comes out, that's going to be the big upgrade. Say's on the A-Eon Calendar X5000 for October. Can't be that long to wait.

So release date is scheduled for October. didn't notice that.
Drooling over one of these as well, but will see how much damage to my wallet it will do first. |
