Impact A2000-HC+8 Series II

Anyone got a manual for this controller?

I need to know if it's possible to connect a SCSI CD-Rom and a HDD on this "little" fellow.

I have the manual, but it's not scanned ... But yes, it's possible.

Yes. But if your cdrom or hdd have termination jumper, you may try putting that device to the end of the chain and turning termination on. If it doesn't work, get a proper terminator.

you may see the jumper configuration here :

You cannot simply plug in a CD-ROM drive and "go" you have to install a CD filesystem

I know that I need a CDFS. After handling everything (HDD term off; CD Term on) FaaastPrep finds everything.

Now the next quest. Getting WB3.9 installed on a Kickstart 1.3 system.

Thanks for all the links.

And does someone got a MiniMegi Chip (PAL!) for an A2000.

Is the Allegro CDFS freeware? I see that it is only sold with hardware (which I don't need).

AFAIK, it is not. But AMICDFS is also pretty good for anything and it comes for free.

I thought OS3.5/3.9 had its own CDFS?

It does, it has cacheCDFS. But it requires a 68020+ like the rest of OS3.5/9

hmmm

I have had OS3.5 running on an A600 (with 680000 cpu) its had only a couple of technincal issues (that i believe were 020 related)

Installer
ScreenMode
ActivateCrossDossIDE

theses had major fail issues (all the same error)

So I did everything. The CD is mounted, but I can only put one disc in. Another one and the system won't recognize it or crashes.

Another Problem is, that I don't get WB 3.9 or 3.1 installed. Is there a hint to install them on an Standard A2000 68000 with Kickrom 2.05. At least the 3.1, but the 3.9 would be much nicer.

on the A600 (it had KS3.1 and 68000 cpu)

the CDROM worked fine allowing for CD's to be changed without the issues of locking up.

this is running initially OS3.5 and then to reduce memory foot-print *and a couple of niggly issues
it was re-installed OS3.1 with idefix97

all is a charm now.

Got myself an Allegro CDFS. I put the allegrocdfs in L: and mounted with cd0:. Before that I changed to gvpscsi.device and unit 6 in the info. When I click on the icon I get an error 80000003 i which i can reboot or suspend (I think; using a german WB 2.1 atm on my A2000).

Also is there any Memory tester for my 8 MB on the GVP ZorroII controller?

Do you have any other cards? You cannot have anything that uses the autoconfig space if you have 8 Meg.

I think you may have to consider that Allegro CDFS may be an 020+ only application

On 68000 this is caused by using WORD or LONG access on odd address or by jumping to odd address or by odd supervisor stackpointer on exception.

Intel doesn't enforce integral boundaries. Motorola 68000 did, but only on 16 bit boundaries (because that was it's bus width). Then 68020 had 32 bit bus, and it had to be ok with non-aligned integers or programs written for the 68000 wouldn't work, so it stopped enforcing them as well. As an Amiga owner, I had problems with programs written for 68020 trying to access 16 bit values on 8 bit boundaries, which would work on 68020 but not on 68000. Guru meditation 80000003 - CPU unaligned access error.

Great

So these 8000 0003 errors are just because of that I got no Accelerator card? Would an Apollo 030 card be good in any way or should I take something better? I would love to see a 060 but the prices are far too high for me.

You'll need:
  • An eprom programmer
  • Some 27C64 EPROMS*
  • A UV Eraser**
  • Some ROM files
* I've read you can use cheaper and more easily available 27C256 if you program the same data into both halves.

**Might not need if you get blank ones and get it right first time.

The last version is v4.15 and is available from http://babel.org/amiga/
