Single sided 8mb ram

I just bought a 72pin 8mb simm . its arrived but its single sided. I can't test at the moment but has anyone ever seen this.? Its got 8 chips on one side marked hy514404a on each chip. Can anyone please confirm its 8mb or at least single sided 8mb exist?

The datasheets for that chip say it's a 4MBit part, which is 512KByte. That would add up to 4MB in total for the SIMM, which would be more common for a single-sided part. Whether a SIMM is one or two sided isn't always relevant, but it's much more common for 8MB SIMMs to be double sided ("odd" binary sizes are typically one-sided, e.g. 1, 4, 16, 64). Ultimately, the best idea is to try it in your accelerator and see how much fast RAM you have, and then decide what you want to do.

A quick google tends to say that chip is 1Mx4 EDO.

Unfortunately it seems that your SIMM is 4MB.

Thank you for confirming my fears. I googled too but the data sheet was foreign to me. I will of course test but if they are 512 chips I hold no hope.
