iGameMEGAiffUpdate!

Hi all!

I've made a MEGA update pack for iGame, containing ~400 new screenshots

- All files, Approximately 400 (except for 3 I had to find on HOL),
are new screenshots of actual gameplay! Not logos or menus!
- All pictures cropped to fit screen,
and converted to .iff and organized in folders.
- Most screenshots are for games that didn't have any,
and some are updates for games that had a logo etc. as a screenshot.
- Approximately 20 screenshots from standard CWB iGame-pack
converted to correct screensize.
- The 'Alternate iGame screenshot' is a replacement for the
standard iGame startscreen, if you like me think that that one is boring.
Just overwrite the one in iGame library.
- 200+ names fixed so they have the same names as the WHDLoad directory names.
Some games have several different folders for more WHDLoad installs,
e.g. "AlienBreed2" and "AlienBreed2AGA"
(The screenshots will be the same though, OCS=AGA).
* There is around 500 files, but only for around 400 games.
This is because of the duplicates.

256x128 is for non-interlaced, e.g. Classic Workbench LITE + FULL (screen 640 x 256)
320x256 is for interlaced displays, e.g. Classic Workbench ADV + ADVSP (screen 640 x 512)

INSTALL:
- Copy the archives to your games directory.
- Overwrite the folders so the new screenshots replaces previous ones in the standard CWB iGame-pack.
- You can do this before unarchiving games or after, it works either way.

Enjoy

* Guide: How to make new screenshots:

OLD METHOD - The one I used and spend around 20 hours on to make these screenshots.

1: 'Save Screenshot' in WinUAE
2: Open in MS Paint
2.1: Crop the picture
2.2: 'Save as' e.g. Apidya (.png)
3: Put the file on your Amiga (real or hardfile in WinUAE) - e.g. in Sys:MyFiles
4: Open PPaint
4.1: Open an "igame.iff" file from an existing game that normally has a screenshot in iGame
- This way you'll have pre-defined size of 320 x 256 - 256 colours
4.2: Now open your new screenshot (Apidya.png)
- Choose 'Current format': 320 X 256 - 256 colours
5: Save the file in its game folder...
- Choose ILBM on the right side
- Call the file: igame.iff
6: Open iGame and under 'Actions' choose 'Scan repositories'

NEW METHOD - Much easier!

1: 'Save Screenshot' in WinUAE
2: Open in XnView
2.1: Crop the picture
2.2: 'Save as' e.g. Apidya (.png)
3: Image -> Resize...
3.1: Untick 'keep ratio', set size to 256x128 or 320x256
4: Image -> Convert to colours...
4.1: Choose 256 (or lower if it doesn't affect the image), and APPLY
5: Save as...
5.1: Call the file: "igame"
5.2: Make sure to save it as 'IFF - Amiga IFF' filetype.
5.3: Save it in correct game folder.

Cool, would love them.

I know a few members here have a DropBox share that might be happy to host them?

Sounds good. If only the author would fix the software so it could convert the images back and forth from non-interlaced to interlaced instead of just crashing like it does on my Amiga.

Yes it's really to bad about the non-interlaced problem
I wish a had kept the original screen shots, then it would have been easier to make a non-interlaced pack as well, but unfortunately I haven't..

FIXED in new update!

Alternatively it should be possible to create a script which could traverse all subdirectories and convert the files to the active mode. I'm sure there's some suitable command-line controlled image converter for the Amiga.

Finally 256x128 for non-interlaced is supported, thanks to Jakob K. for work on the conversion!

Can't download it from Aminet, it just throws up a "sorry forbidden" page.

EDIT:
Strange, just did a Startpage search for a alternative link and it downloaded from Aminet. Might be a server glitch on their end.
