We had a go at the schmuck who wrote that article over at Lemon last year. The 64 keyboard isn't all that bad.

After typing my sisters 400 page dissertation in 1995 I can say that the A500 was a delight to type on.

The only arse was waiting for it to print in 'best' mode on my Star LC-200 9-pin dot matrix

The Timex Sinclair 1000 is the North American version of the ZX81. Different dog, same fleas.

I must take issue with the statements about the C64 keyboard. "RUN/STOP" is not necessarily non-standard, it is just another name for the Esc key. I'm surprised they didn't mention the RESTORE key and how it doesn't work unless you hit it with a sledgehammer, which is very annoying.

Speccy, LOL.

The Commodore 64 was a delight to code, and the design/style was quite unique in my opinion.

The C64 was a great computer but the keys were awful. After some time typing on the keyboard your finger started to hurt. I would call it a design fault (if there was any design included )

I rather like the 64's keyboard too. The PET keyboards though, those were rough on the wrists. You really have to hammer on those keys.

Good point...
...though if you're tired of your Oric1 keyboard I may know where you can get your hands on a new Atmos one.

Pah. All the keyboards in that article are NOTHING compared to the keyboard of the KC87/2! If you had to use that once you know what the WORST keyboard ever is! I had to code on such machines back in 1987/88 and that keyboard is hands down the worst ever. (And the C64 keyboard is pretty ok actually)

I actually had a Timex/Sinclair 1000. Briefly. :-|

We actually got it free for going to a timeshare sales pitch. I played with it a little while... and then my folks sold it out from under me to some little old lady. :-|
