@ Doc Mindie - got it, read it, enjoyed it.

Definitely worth the read although personally I thought that the initial parts of the book dealing with Chuck Peddle and the creation of the 6502, PET, VIC-20 and C64 to be more interesting than the Amiga parts.

The book focusses more on Commodore and its internal politics rather than on the technologies themselves so by the time you get to the Amiga and Jack Tramiel has departed, the Commodore story, in my opinion, gets less interesting.

Prowler, I didn't make this thread to "review" the book, only to share my (personal) joy over having it, original form, bought from Amazon.co.uk, and not via that swedish tracker we all know very much about these days

EDIT: Besides, that thread was about Digital Retro, not One The Edge

Doc Mindie, I didn't post that link to have a go at you for starting this thread, but only to add the information for anybody reading the thread later on who is interested in finding out more about the book.
(On reflection, I think I probably used the wrong smilie previously.)

Yes, it was. However, one or two posts compare On The Edge favourably with Digital Retro.

sure, they compared them, but I didn't see any "reviews" of it. only a small, very basic intro-ish of "Digital retro"

And I dind't mean to "defend myself" to be honest, I just wanted to say what I said later in the sentance ^^

I think we are all in agreement... it is a good book.

Chuck Peddle is a pretty clever bloke...!

Isnt there supposed to be a updated version of this book with a different title? It was supposed to be out at the start of the year...

edit: I have put off buying this book for a long time waiting for this so called second edition:

I also postponed buying this book because of second edition. Release date for second edition is now October 1, 2009; but it has been already postponed few times so I'm thinking to order first edition.
