teenage mutant NINJA turtles
The 3 disk game by Ultra Games, not the horrible 1 disk game by Imageworks.
Anyone ever get this game to boot using Winuae? I get it as far as the title screen, but after that the damned thing just hangs ![]() Using Winuae 1.0. Tried different configs, including 1.3, 3.1, switching memory, chipset... It just won't work. |

I'd never picked up this version, but I kind of like a challenge so I downloaded it from PlanetEmu when I saw your post. I'm afraid it wasn't much of a challenge though, since it ran fine the first time I tried it. I used the Triad crack in WinUAE 1.0, with KS 1.3, full ECS chipset, 1 MB chip ram, 2 MB fast ram, PAL chipset. These settings were just a "first guess" and I didn't play it for long, so I can't vouch for it working perfectly all the way through, but getting past the title screen wasn't hard. I use a joypad as a replacement for the joystick, and pressing the fire button got me to the hacked copy protection screen. All I had to do there was enter any 4 digit number and press ENTER and the game loaded fine. The settings could probably use some tweaking, but that ought to get you started.

Indeed, with your settings I get it to boot as well :s Guess I missed the chip + fast ram...
Sorry to waste your time. |

Real fast RAM should *not* necessary for this old game; slow RAM should do anyway.
Back in '91, this game ran fine on my A500, and this machine hasn't got fast RAM at all. |

I suspect you're right about that. Knowing that it had failed for gimbal, I simply picked settings that had worked with the majority of games for me as a starting point, and since a few games (and some cracks) required some extra ram I chose to add some fast ram right off the bat. I haven't tried tweaking the settings, but it wouldn't surprise me that much if it would run with 1 MB of chip and no extra ram. You probably don't need to emulate the full ECS chipset either - the ECS Agnus should be enough. If it ran on a stock A500, you would have only had .5 MB of chip and the OCS chipset anyway. HOL and BTTR both listed this as ECS though, so thats why I didn't start out with a plain vanilla A500 config.
