Stardust poster - origins?

Going through some boxes of Amiga stuff, I came across a large (A2-sized?) promotional poster for Stardust from 1993. It's for the original Bloodhouse release and it's not in the HOL entry for Stardust.

I don't own Stardust. I've never owned Stardust. Does anyone know where this could have come from? Bundled with another game? Or a magazine? I think Amiga Action was the only UK mag I was reading back then, although I did have one or two issues of The One.

The other possibility is that a mail-order dealer just threw it in the box with another order.

Thanks in advance for any hints.

I think each poster included with one of those magazines had their logo in a corner, so probably it is not this case.

I've not seen it either, but maybe it was distributed to stores to promote the game?

Either way, it's probably something you should send to me for my collection... just to be safe....

Lovely item!

Had a quick look yesterday and again today, but since the game is quite rare I couldn't find any info about the poster. Would be great to have a scan of it for HOL if that is possible

I suspect this poster is from Atari STE version of Stardust.

According to Atari Mania, STE version is released in 1995, which is far after the 1993 copyright date.

Daze marketing in UK, Silmarils in France - perhaps it was a French marketing initiative?

Well spotted I think it's Daze in the UK and Silmarils in France (like for the Ishar games).

Having the distribution info on the poster very likely means that it didn't came with the game, but rather as promo material (either from a magazine or in a shop). I've written Housemarque a message on Facebook about it and hopefully they'll reply.

Yes, but nothing about Stardust is/was Amiga game. Also I dont remember CPU speech in Amiga Stardust, but I dont played this game too much. This is universal Stardust poster, not related to Amiga only. Stardust was released for PC too. Silmarils was much better known as Atari ST publisher, and later as PC publisher. Then it can be shop poster or from PC version.

From the Housemarque website:
Quote:
This is where it all began – way back in 1993 with the original Stardust, a legendary shoot-em-up for the Amiga 500 (an Atari STE version followed in ‘94) that wowed critics and gamers alike.

I mean "no info (in poster) about this is Amiga game". Or A500 or something similar. Stardust was released in 1993 year for Amiga, in 1994 for Atari STE and in 1996 for MS-DOS. Then this is universal poster for me, for all platforms.

Anyway it seems to be Amiga poster. Atari STE and MS-DOS versions of Stardust has different (updated) game credits.

CPU is clearly a nickname for a person who designed speech sounds in the game.

It's way too big for a conventional flatbed scanner, so I'm looking into getting this scanned by a professional print shop. The issue is that it might be too folded/creased to make it through a large-format scanner's rollers and could get destroyed in the process...

Indeed, one of the first things I did was check my Silmarils games (with a Daze marketing sticker on the side ) to see if it could have come in one of their boxes. But it folds up to A4 size, which is still too big to fit...

Not worth destroying it for a scan of course. You could try to scan it in parts and I would try to 'puzzle' it together, but only if that isn't too much hassle.

That it can be folded to A4 should mean that indeed either came with a magazine or a catalogue for a seller. Haven't heard back from Housemarque yet (kinda doubt I will), but hopefully if it is from a magazine somebody will eventually remember.
