CDTV motherboards
Is EVERYTHING in the CDTV custom made for the CDTV, or are there (other than ROMS) parts that are shared with the A500?
The top board in my CDTV is knackered and it either needs a fix or the board replacing. Don't want to give up on this machine, i've decided I want a CDTV under the TV and thats what I want damnit!!! |

Not everything. The CPU, Agnus, Gary, RAM, CIAs, Paula, Denise, and Video Hybrid are probably exactly the same.
The CDTV has an extra microcontroller with specialised IO for the VFD display, maybe a different RTC chip. Whatever handles the remote control, and the CDTV will also need some DAC for CD audio, as well as extra hardware to handle the CD ROM drive. |
