Agony remake in Unreal Engine.

Someone is working on an Agony remake done with Unreal Engine.

[ Show youtube player ]

You can play the demo already.

Ahah, not great but not bad either. I will show it to my producer today, I'm curious to see his reaction.

+ nice picture with animated fire
- dreadful violin/cello
- piano pitch on sea loading screen is too high
- owl is slightly too blurry
- 2D enemies should have motion blur to hide 2-3 frames of animation
+- in-game music is not bad but slightly out of place
It's only my thinking.

Looks nice!

Edit:
So, I downloaded the demo and checked the size of it: over 500MB in size, what an inefficiency!

For me, the owl looks a bit too much like a direct lift from the original. Maybe it's just an interim image while they work on a better, more original model? The parallax is nice, although not sure how much I like the really close parallax layer, that can obscure the player and enemies.

I like it, not overly changed as to keep the same feeling as the original. Just updated graphics. When I saw it had Unreal Engine I thought it was going to be a 3-D shooter clone. Glad it's not!

It's not a model, it's the original sprite, and this is a point that sucks, they should have remodeled it all in 3D

The original is superior in everyway... (and I'm not wearing my rose tinted spectacles!)

I like that. Animated images are beautiful. Good work! Will they have the courage to go through all levels? That is often the problem with those demos.

How about building intro based on unused drawings?

I'm not a fan of these current gen amiga "remakes" at all.. would much rather see homage paid via sequels.

I don't mean Agony 2, or Shadow of the Beast 4, something like "Agony: Requiem" or whatever that involves an original approach to the series, rather then just 'remastering' the old version.
Would be much more interesting imo

I rather like how it looks, sound effects are also good. I dislike the music though, it feels 'off'.

Most importantly, it looks like the madness of needing a gazillion bullets to kill each enemy is no longer present - so it may actually play better than the original.

The original plays like crap, so that's definitely not a good idea.
